The main facts

The joint stock company "Anyksciu Vynas", founded in the year 1926, is one of oldest enterprises, located in the south region of the Baltics, which started to produce wine by industrial method.

Its founder - a graduate agronomist Balys Karazija - founded a small fruit-berry winery in the cellar of a rented house and started to ferment the first lot of apple wine.

B.Karazija`s wine "Birute" was awarded with the main reward, whereas two kinds of wine "Senasis Vynas" (the "Old Wine") and "Banga" (the "Wave") - with gold medals at the International exhibition in Paris in the year 1938. Since then the natural fruit-berry wine became a traditional Lithuanian drink.

In the year 1940, after the owner of the enterprise moved to Germany, the enterprise was privatized and nationalized by the state. The specialists, who remained in the country, preserved and cherished the accumulated knowledge and experience of wine production.

In the seventies, after the reconstruction, which had been going on for about ten years, the enterprise "Anyksciu Vynas" expanded to a great extent. Natural wines used to be exhibited at the international exhibitions in the USA, Denmark, Czechia, Mongolia, Poland, etc., where they were greatly appreciated. More than 20 million liters of wine were produced in the year 1979.

In the year 1985, after M.Gorbachiov initiated the anti-alcohol campaign, the leader of wine production on the country`s scale was reorganized into a food-stuffs plant, producing refreshing drinks and sweets.

In the year 1988 the enterprise started to produce the concentrated apple juice in accordance with the technology of the Swiss company "Unipektin". The concentrated apple juice, the apple aroma and the apple squeezed stuff are exported to Germany and other countries of Western Europe.

The revival of the JSC "Anyksciu Vynas" started in the last decade of the XX-th century. The dwellers of Anyksciai succeeded to preserve the experience, which has been accumulated in the course of many years, as well as the well-tried technologies.

In the year 1992 an efficient wine pouring line, completed out of the Italian and German equipment, was installed.

In the year 1994-1996, the experience, which has been accumulated in the course of many years, was successfully used for a creation and production of new kinds of alcohol drinks - kinds of brandy, liqueurs, vodka.

In the year 1997 a modern sparkling wine pouring line, completed out of the Italian equipment, ws installed and it was began the sparkling wine production.

At the end of the year 1999 the enterprise implemented the Quality management system ISO 9002.

In the year 2001 the JSC "Anyksciu Vynas" renewed the production of apple cider. At that time the enterprise was the only producer of the cider and also it was the first company, which successsfully began to popularize the cider among the youth.

At the end of the year 2001 the JSC "Anyksciu Vynas" released the vodka of a new quality, produced by method of cooling, i.e. "Ledo" (the "Ice vodka").

At the beginning of the year 2002 the enterprise was included into the network of culinary inheritance of Europe and since then it represents the region of Aukstaitya. Traditional, dessert and natural wines, cider, produced out of local raw materials, were acknowledged as the culinary inheritance.

In the year 2002 the enterprise`s System of quality management was supplemented accoording to the requirements of the new new standard ISO 9001: 2000. At the end of the year 2002 JSC "Anykščių vynas" was given the System of quality management ISO 9001: 2000 confirmation certificate.

In the year 2002 the production of the original, aromatized with a natural aurochs herb vodka "Stumbrinė" was began.

During the same year JSC "Anykščių vynas" opened its door to the visitors - it was introduced a special excursion program, under the title "The Wine Route of Lithuania". The program includes an acquaintance with the enterprise and drinks tasting. During the tasting visitors may taste kinds of produced alcohol drinks, get acquainted with its composition, specific features of taste and odour, the consumption culture.

In the year 2003 the enterprise implemented the Environmental management system ISO 14001.

In the year 2004 JSC "Anykščių vynas" was sold to the JSC "Alita". There were fulfilled the enterpise reorganization, optimized the production, outlined strategic goals, the main of which is to preserve the production of traditional, natural and high quality products.

In the year 2005 the main attention was paid to the JSC "Anykščių vynas" produced drinks range. Some new products: LABANORO kinds of brandy, TOPI liqueurs with natural juice, sparkling drinks BON TON, were presented to the drinks market.
